Habitat Terrain @ Montserrat College of Art

The Habitat/Terrain Collaboration

In the summer of 2006, I was asked to work with aspiring artists from the Monserrat College of Art's Pre-College Summer Program.  In addition to doing a workshop with all of the program's attendees, I was able to work on a project with a smaller subgroup of students with a strong interest in installation art.  We assembled a stockpile of materials and just played for the first week, getting familiar with the space and the language of the materials.  Soon a theme began to emerge.  The resultant exhibition Habitat/Terrain is a great example of the expansive power of play in the art making process.
